Biography – Paul Ahern

Paul B. Ahern has been practicing law since 1983 when he was admitted to the Minnesota Bar. In 1987, he was admitted to the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. Mr. Ahern is a member of the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice; the Criminal Section of the Minnesota Bar Association; and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

At the begining of his career, Mr. Ahern worked as a City Prosecutor and Assistant County Attorney learning the process from the inside. Since the mid 1980s, he has worked as a defense attorney helping clients achieve the very best outcome in the criminal justice system.

Working with individuals with driving offenses including DWI/DUI has been his focus and is his expertise.

Mr. Ahern is a member of the National College of DUI Defense. As a respected and knowledgeable resource in the area of DUI defense, Mr. Ahern has been a lecturer at continuing education classes presented to other practicing groups including:

Chairman of the annual Minnnesota Society for Criminal Justice DWI Defense Seminar, the largest DWI Defense seminar in the state.

He is a trained Datamaster Operator having received three days of extensive Datamaster training.

1992 – Present – Since 1991 Paul B. Ahern has dedicated his entire practice to the aggressive defense of persons charged with criminal and DWI offenses. Paul B. Ahern has been a guest lecturer to other defense attorneys at Continuing Legal Education Seminars on the subject of DWI Defense.

1985 – 1991 – Froberg & Penberthy; Froberg & Ahern: city prosecutor for the cities of Shorewood and Tonka Bay in the Lake Minnetonka area. In private practice, Mr. Ahern’s practice also included a substantial amount of criminal defense work, representing clients charged with Felony, Misdemeanor and DWI offenses.

1984 – Assistant County Attorney: Benton County, Minnesota. Duties included prosecution of adults and (sometimes) juveniles in central Minnesota county with the cities of St. Cloud (east side of Mississippi), Sauk Rapids, Sartell, Rice and Foley.

1983 – Legal research and writing for the Honorable Walter Mann, The Honorable Harvey Holtan and the Honorable Noah Rosenbloom in Minnesota’s Fifth Judicial District (Marshall, New Ulm, St. Peter, Mankato, Fairmont, Worthington) – Paul Ahern
